It’s pretty much beyond doubt that the most successful pro Yamaha team on the planet is Australia’s own CDR Yamaha.
Under Craig Dack and Gary Benn the team has out-performed any other Yamaha team around the world and in times when others struggled to find single wins, they were winning championships.
And it’s not hard to see why. Gary Benn has more experience than pretty much any other human at the highest levels of racing from the true Works days in Europe to the US and at home. And of course team boss, Craig Dack, is one of Australia’s most accomplished racers who dominated both indoor and outdoor and led the charge in taking the sport to another level before focussing all that experience in running the team.
Mechanic, Brad McAlpine, never looks flustered or stressed and along with Aiden and Sam, it’s the most complete environment for a rider in Australia to do the best they can do.
As a rider, rolling back in to a truck with that sort of experience (around 50 titles in total), is invaluable. There is no problem that can’t be solved and no situation they can’t deal with.
And the line-up of riders through the years is seriously impressive. Chad Reed, Craig Anderson, Kim Ashkanazi, Darryl King, Josh Coppins, Cheyne Boyd, Troy Carroll, Jay Marmont and of course Dean Ferris are just a few of the great riders that have ridden and won under the CDR Yamaha banner.
Now in its 25th year, there’s appears to be no signs of slowing down with Dean Ferris completing an epic run through the Motocross Nationals, winning nine of the ten rounds which is something that’s never been done before.
CDR Yamaha is simply one of the truly great teams on the global motocross scene.
