Honda has announced that Canard suffered a crash at his training grounds in Oklahoma. As a result of the crash he picked up a bulged disc in his back, forcing him off the bike. At this stage the severity of the injury is unknown but it is considered a week by week prospect.
“It’s unfortunate that Trey will miss this weekend’s race,” said team manager Dan Betley. “He has shown a lot of speed at the first three rounds and continues to improve his starts. We’re confident that he’ll be back in action sooner than later, but at this point we’re just going to evaluate things each week.”
Canard is currently ranked fourth in 450MX standings. Joining Dungey on the sidelines means that two of the top four will not contest this weekend. This gives some breathing space to Roczen and Tomac while opening the door for riders like Cole Seely, Josh Grant and Jason Anderson to make a move.
