CRAIG DACK’S 1992 YAMAHA YZ250 FACTORY BIKE

This is a special machine. When Craig Dack retired in 1992, the tradition of gracing riders with their title-winning bikes had long since been eradicated. However, team boss, Ross McWaters, believed that Dack should have something special to commemorate the occasion and did a deal with Yamaha to build a brand-new machine to match his championship-winning YZ250.
The engine was pulled from the 1990 Mr Motocross winning bike with Dack’s original cylinder and head. The race bike featured a programmable ignition with 10 curves to choose from as well as factory Öhlins suspension and a transmission with a gear-position sensor for high-speed gear changes.
For those wondering where the Peter Jackson logos went, they had to be removed so the bike could be displayed in public due to tobacco-advertising laws.
Dack retired in 1992 and his lasting legacy was a stellar career and some of the most recognisable race bikes in Australian Motocross. This 1992 YZ250 stands as testament to that.
