Monster Energy Kawasaki is pleased to announce a strong new rider line-up for 2012.
Talented Scotsman Billy Mackenzie will go into his 3rd year with the factory Kawasaki team and will be joined in the 450/ Opens class by reigning Australian Motocross and Supercross Champion Jay Marmont. Kade Mosig will represent Monster Energy Kawasaki in the Lites class.
Bringing with him the coveted #1 plate to the Kawasaki KX450F for both the 2012 MX and Super X Championships, Jay Marmont joins Monster Energy Kawasaki for 2012. Marmont is one of Australia’s most respected, talented and decorated riders. As well as winning this year’s Super X Championship, Marmont won the MX Championship for the 4th consecutive year, an achievement only ever achieved once before. Marmont was also the Australian Supercross Champion in 2003 and 2004 and he has also enjoyed success overseas, taking 5th overall amongst the world’s best in the 2005 AMA West Coast Lites MX Championship in the USA.
Jay Marmont is very pleased to be with Monster Energy Kawasaki in 2012 saying, “I’m excited and up for the new challenge. It’s awesome to be on a new bike and I’m starting to gel already with the bike and the new team”.
“I’m looking forward to returning home this weekend and just riding the new KX450F and becoming familiar with it before returning to QLD in mid January for further testing.
“So far the KX450F is unreal. It’s a very balanced bike and it feels really good on the track. The engine’s strong and the Monster Energy Kawasaki guys have been great getting me familiar with the bike. I’m really enjoying riding it and I’m optimistic and looking forward to the new year.”
Billy Mackenzie is looking forward to going into his 3rd year with Australia’s factory Kawasaki team. With a load of race wins already to his name, Mackenzie will be looking to capitalise on his blistering speed in 2012 by taking home that coveted but so far elusive Championship title. Mackenzie took 3rd at this year’s MX Championship and 2nd in 2010 on the back of some impressive results inEurope including multiple World Championship GP race wins, two British MX Championships and 6 call-ups to the Motocross Des Nations.
Billy Mackenzie is looking forward to continuing his relationship with Monster Energy Kawasaki saying, “I feel like 2012 is going to be a solid year. The last 2 years have been a steep learning curve for both the team and I, but through our hard work and results we have now established ourselves as a top team in the pits. With the backing from Monster and all our sponsors, the team has grown bigger and stronger every week.”
“I have found a set-up with the 2012 KX450F that I am now completely confident with, so with that covered I can concentrate on riding hard and building my speed up with a bike I love. I’m really excited to start the season knowing that the only thing I have to concentrate on is my fitness and riding.”
22 year old Kade Mosig from Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula is the Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Lites rider for 2012. Kade’s impressive form in 2011 demanded the attention of Monster Energy Kawasaki and helped earn the talented young rider a seat on a factory bike in 2012. Mosig finished the final two rounds of this year’s MX Championship on the podium, taking 2nd both times and he also managed a 2nd place finish at the final round of the 2010 Super X Championship. Injury prevented Mosig from competing at this year’s Super X series.
Kade Mosig say’s, “I’m really really excited to join Monster Energy Kawasaki for 2012. Troy and all the boys run a really tight ship and I’m really pleased with how testing has gone so far.”
“I was just amazed at how good the KX250F is. I jumped on it and felt comfortable straight away. I’m definitely looking forward to starting to race next year.”
Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Manager Troy Carroll is extremely pleased with the team’s new rider line-up for 2012, saying, “We’ve really fine-tuned the race team for 2012. I’ve really been happy with the progress we’ve made with the new 450 and we already have one of the best 250’s in the country.”
“I’m extremely pleased to retain Billy Mackenzie and really happy that he will be joined by Jay Marmont and Kade Mosig. We’re really looking forward to going racing in 2012.”
Jay Marmont, Billy Mackenzie, Kade Mosig and Monster Energy Kawasaki will continue testing and training before beginning their 2012 Championship campaign at the team’s first official outing, the 1st round of the 2012 Australian Motocross Championship in Queensland on 1 April. Further announcements concerning Monster Energy Kawasaki sponsors will be made in due course.
