Dirt Action chats with NSW’s Luke as he prepares for his assault on round three of the Australian Supercross Championship with the CDR Yamaha
Monster Energy Team.
You must be stoked to be sitting in equal second heading into your home state round.
Yeah I am, I’ve been excited for the Wollongong round since it got announced and to be in the position I’m in and battling for a championship is awesome.
I’m sure the Wollongong crowd would like to see a local guy take it to the visiting American, Justin Brayton.
For sure, I think the Aussies want the Aussies to win, but Justin is riding really good right now and he’s got a solid bike under neath him. I’m gonna chip away and keep doing what I’m doing and with a somewhat home race I’ll be putting 110% into trying to take JB off the top step.
Does it fire you up that little bit more having Josh Hill under the tent? You’re hired by CDR to win and you’ll another super competitive guys joining Dan Reardon alongside you at CDR.
Honestly it doesn’t bother me, I’m there to focus on me and do my job. I’m hired to win and that’s what my focus is on, it’s cool to have some experienced team mates and I try learn off them, but that’s as much as I think about them.
A big stadium means a big track, are you excited to continue your momentum from round two?
I love the big tracks, to me that’s what supercross is about, technical tracks that separate people and you have to focus 110%. I loved the track at round 2 and I’m really looking forward to another big track, the track builders have been awesome this season.
What are you packing in your gear bag for the biggest Luke Clout fan in the stadium?!
I hope to see some fans down there, it’s pretty much a home race for me and I do a lot of riding around the area, so I’m really stoked to be racing in front of friends family and fans! We will have to see how the races go first (laughs), but there could be some jerseys and goggles!
Thanks mate – see you there!
Sounds good, thanks!
