Another successful women only adventure ride took place on 18-19 February starting in Mittagong in the NSW Southern Highlands and overnighting in the Central Tablelands town of Oberon.
The two-day event is one of a regular series of women only rides organised by RideADV and the first of the year. On day one, the scenic route crossed over the Tarlo River before the group stopped in Taralga for lunch – and then headed into the state forest for a run among the pines. Overnight stop was at the Big Trout in Oberon, and day two returned to Mittagong on the Wombeyan Caves Road – a classic two day adventure.
The 10 participants stopped along the way to discuss riding technique, line selection, oil filter maintenance, riding conditions – which were dry and dusty – and the importance of keeping left at all times.
“The first Yamaha RideADV Women’s Ride for 2023 was terrific. It was hot, boy was it hot. But everyone stayed hydrated and switched on. There were plenty of stops and tuition along the way. A few spills and tumbles, but all in all, plenty was learned and everyone was raving about their weekend!” explains RideADV lead rider Greg Yager.
Among those attending were three mates on Yamaha’s XT250 – the ideal mount for entry level riders featuring a low 810mm seat height. XT riders Hazel, Sally and Anne enjoyed their weekend adventure.
“I’ve been on three of these rides now and I love them. The crew at RideADV are super helpful and tailor the riding to each group so it’s super fun. Now I want to go on the introduction ride and bring my partner, because this is something we can enjoy together ,” says 53-year-old finance manager from Bowen Mountain and XT250 owner Hazel Slade.
The next women only adventure ride starts in Bright, VIC on 18/19 March. For more details, check out the RideADV web site.
