Check out the latest event to hit Australia! MXstore has announced the inaugural Foam and Loam surf and moto teams contest, two days of action and endurance for mates to ride and surf together, all in the name of fun. Riders will compete at Newcastle’s Bar Beach on the Saturday and then Maitland District MCC on the Sunday, happening February 22-23, 2025.
Legendary surfer and dirt bike fanatic Julian Wilson is Foam and Loam’s contest director and local host, he has a rich history in surfing ranking #2 in the World Surf League in 2018 and competing in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, best yet, he loves riding with his mates at MXstore’s Battle In The Bush team events, plus hitting the tracks and trails on his KTM whenever he’s not surfing.
Foam and Loam combines Julian’s passions in his backyard “I have always wanted to bring the community together in an event like this, we all love to surf and ride on the weekends, so Foam and Loam is the ultimate challenge and great excuse to have an epic time together.”
“I think you’ll have the pro surfers that excel at the beach and be a weak link at the track, there’ll be pro moto legends that will be the opposite, but the weekend legends who are good at both that’ll probably rule the weekend, it’s going to be an awesome challenge for everyone” said Julian.
Foam and Loam is a team event consisting of four riders, where everyone must surf one wave and complete one lap on the track per round, there are two rounds both at the beach and track. The overall results are combined to crown the winners at the end of the weekend.
“There’s a bit of strategy to consider,” says Julian, “a strong rider will be good to lean on at the track and vice versa at the beach”.
