New South Wales will be looking to make it six Senior Trophy Team victories in a row in next week’s 2015 Yamaha Australian Four Day Enduro (A4DE) in Wynyard, Tasmania.
Press Release
The New South Welshmen were last topped in the Senior Trophy competition by Victoria back in 2009, and have since then embarked on a remarkable run of success.
They look well placed to be near the pointy end of the field again, with a team on paper that could quite easily pass as a representative Australian team.
Three of its Senior Team members – Josh Green, Glenn Kearney and Beau Ralston – were members of Australia’s provisional runner-up team in this year’s FIM International Six Days Enduro, while former outright Four Day champions Toby Price and Chris Hollis are also part of the NSW squad.
Young gun Tom Kite rounds out the senior team.
New South Wales Enduro Committee member Jan Waldon said the talented group of riders assembled was a result of many years of hard work put in by the New South Wales enduro system.
“It is a really strong team, and an especially strong senior team,” Waldon said.
“We have an abundance of strength in New South Wales, and for many years New South Wales has poured development into our juniors to make them into seniors and it has paid off.
Waldon said while the credentials of the state’s senior squad were hard to look past, she was pleased with the make-up of the team overall.
Tye Simmonds got his first taste of international enduro riding experience as a part of the Australian Junior Trophy Team at the ISDE this year, while the heroics of Tayla Jones and Jess Gardiner for the country’s all conquering Women’s ISDE team is well known.
“Our Junior team starting with Tye Simmonds took part in his first Six Day this year, while the other three riders (Jacob Peacock, Ben Kearns and Wil Ruprecht) are fresh out of juniors and we are expecting that they’ll ride really well,” Waldon said.
“Obviously everyone knows about what Tayla and Jess can do, but Amber Lock will be the glue that holds it together, because without all three girls finishing the team falls to the bottom of the scoring, so based on what we’ve got with our three girls the team will do well.”
