The American Motorcycle Association will lift the minimum age for Motocross competitors in 2017.

The recent announcement has identified that as of 2017 a rider must be 14 years old to compete on a 250cc bike. Comparatively, those wanting to compete on a 450cc machine will need to be 16 years old.
At this stage no announcement has been made on the return of the 125cc class. Many are hoping the reintroduction would allow an easier transition for juniors rather than them jumping straight from super-minis to the 250’s.
The rule created through the AMA Congress will take effect on January 1, 2017.
