Yamaha’s Cooper Webb has returned to the winner’s circle in Arlington.

The Western Regional 250SX main event saw similar front runners on gate drop with GEICO Honda’s Christian Craig taking his second holeshot of the year. Joey Savatgy loomed as an early threat exchanging places with Craig on the opening lap before crashing in the whoops and out of podium contention.
Savatgy’s misfortunate allowed Webb to close in on Craig as the pair set themselves for yet another heated contest out in front. While Craig looked strong in the lead Webb’s pace and aggressive riding style pulled through allowing him to make the winning pass on lap 11.
Webb never looked back securing the win two seconds over Craig to regain his lead in overall championship standings.
“I came out of the gate strong and tucked to the inside through the first turn,” said Webb. “Throughout the race I was slowly able to gain time on Christian [Craig], eventually making a pass stick to claim the win.”
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Zach Osborne rounded out the 250SX podium in a very impressive showing.
Joey Savatgy was never able to recover from his second lap crash, fighting back in the pack for a tenth place finish. The result drops him to second place in the championship, 11 points behind Webb. Craig sits in third a further five points behind.
Australian rider Hayden Mellross impressed with another main event appearance claiming 14th place for the round.
The Monster energy Supercross season will continue next weekend in Atlanta, Georgia.
