The Alpinestars Techstar jersey is made for performance and has been created using a lightweight, vented poly-fabric main chassis for moisture wicking and a performance fit. It also features pre-curved sleeves, seamless collar and cuffs, an extended rear section and a range of perforated mesh sections for air-flow. In terms of fit and comfort, the 2019 Techstar jersey ticks all of the boxes. Featuring a performance fit, the jersey sits closer to the body and excess material has been eliminated. The jersey definitely has a minimalist feel to it and it’s a real pleasure to wear.
With a selection of perforated areas though, this jersey is certainly suited to warm weather riding. It works a treat during the Australian Summer, but if you’re looking to ride in colder conditions, you may want to throw something underneath to help block some of that air-flow. Sublimated fade-resistant graphics are also featured for 2019 and the Techstar Venom design is a real crowd-pleaser. In the black/grey/orange colourway, this combination always looks the goods in action and certainly lends itself well to either trail riding or motocross racing.
In the pant department it’s much of the same. High performance features and quality materials are the name of the game here with a multi-panel, poly-fabric construction and strategically positioned four-way stretch panels placed throughout. When it comes to pants, maximum flexibility is key and the Techstar pant certainly does offer that. Using the ‘Babel’ knee design, which features a pre-bent, reinforced, padded knee construction with a hidden spandex expansion gusset, you’ll never feel restricted on the bike.
To match up with the jersey, the pant also features localised perforation zones such as the exclusive ‘Vector’ back panel for maximum cooling and comfort. There’s also a ventilated mesh lining with a stretch panel insert for improved fit in the riding position. The overall fit of the pant is right on the money, there’s enough room to fit your knee braces comfortably, but that’s it. There’s no extra material hanging around and you still maintain complete flexibility – perfect.
You’ll also receive leather inner leg panels for grip and heat resistance, silicon webbing on the inner waist to keep the pant in the correct position and a handy little feature we really enjoy – an inner hip pocket! These really come in handy if you want to throw your car key in your pants or even a bit of money, whatever your need may be, it’s always great to have that option in a motocross-based pant!
