Starting the day in fourth place Jarvis had to make up an eleven minute deficit from South African Wade Young. An attacking start was evident and in a fantastic display Jarvis had caught up to the leading pair of Young and Alfredo Gomez just after the hour mark.
Riding through the Bermuda Triangle section, Jarvis secured the lead before turning on the afterburners and well and truly checking out on the field.
Jarvis was unrelenting and rode to victory 16 minutes ahead of his nearest rival Mario Roman.
“I needed to put in a ride like that,” Jarvis said. “The course was hard work but once I found my flow I didn’t really hit any major stoppers. My plan was to attack hard and I did that, but I knew I needed to keep going once I hit the front.
“We’re at the halfway stage of the race now and I’m leading but tomorrow I’m the guy they’ll be chasing so I’ve got to keep pushing hard and try not to get caught.”
Stage one winner Wade Young ran into some trouble through the race and dropped to third overall while Alfredo Gomez also dropped out of the top three into fourth.
