Davi Millsaps hit the lead early in both motos, pulling away from the pack in a showing of determination. From the front he led the field and remained unchallenged to take the chequered flag comfortably in each race. Millsaps was full of praise for the track and the Canadian crowds which have been turning out.
“I have never ridden a track like this and I have been riding for a long time. It’s a bit more fun up here and the atmosphere under our tent is great.”
Monster Energy Alpinestar Kawasaki’s Mike Alessi finished in second place for the round after a 4-2 finish. Known for his exceptional starts Alessi finally pulled off a holeshot in the second moto, much to his own delight.
“I was not going to start the season 0 for 8,” Alessi joked in regards to his holeshot record.
Defending MX1 champ Matt Georke landed on the last step of the podium with a 3-4 moto result. “I got some stuff to work on,” he said. “The second moto was not my best and hopefully I can turn this series around in the east.”
Australian rider Brett Metcalfe had to battle his way back through the pack after a first turn crash in moto one left him all the way back in nineteenth. The Rockstar Energy OTSFF Yamaha rider managed to make it back up to sixth place before a much better second moto landed him in third.
Millsaps has extenede his championship lead to 24 points over Mike Alessi. Colton Facciotti is a further ten points back in third while Matt Goerke and Brett Metcalfe are tied on 182 points.
