The 2016 MXGP Motocross World Championship is backed in the United States by Monster Energy which had many guessing that Tomac would appear at the two races. In an instagram post earlier today he confirmed these suspicions announcing, “Excited to add the @monsterenergy @mxgp events that are coming stateside in September to the 2016 race calendar.”
This is huge news for US fans with many AMA riders now choosing to showcase themselves against the world’s bets on home soil. Last year none of the top three 450 riders lined up at Glen Helen with Davi Millsaps, Cooper Webb, Josh Grant and Jason Anderson all making the trip.
With Ryan Dungey down and out injured, Tomac looms as the main threat for the likes of Tim Gasjer, Romain Febvre and the rest of the internationally fancied field. The MXGP of Americas will hit Charlotte on September 3rd before moving on to Glen Helen a week later, September 11th.
